The Shed
The latest: I'm working on a commission piece that's 6 ft by 4 ft. Pretty big for the Shed but who's complaining.
About me
I make art to give shape and color to what I see in my imagination and bring my inner world into the physical one. If I see a sliver of an idea with potential, I work to make it a reality. I'm compelled to create pieces that are abstract impressions of moments or objects that have affected me — a leaf, my niece's side eye, a story overheard at a bar, almost anything can serve as inspiration.
I like art to be a speed bump in the psyche. To provide a split second interruption. More than just a visual disruption; a momentary jolt that hopefully evokes pleasure, introspection, and love. I aim to explore the millions of beautiful combinations of color, chaos and order in both life and art.
I use primarily use acrylics, oils, spray paint, paper, photographs, glass and resin. Most of my current works involve spray paint and acrylic on plexiglass, relieved with wire brushes until the layers of paint slowly reveal the piece until the abstraction becomes clear. It's a multistep process and that reveals itself in phases. I love how the process gives way to the finished product, allowing me to bring ideas to life and share something tangible and personal with people.
